After reading Wild At Heart, I experienced God talking to me in a way I never had but found I desperately wanted. However, it seemed like the occasional experience, not something designed to happen every day. This book put in perspective that a father wouldn't ignore his children and not want to communicate with them. The Bible is not a book of exceptions.I found this refreshing and just what I needed. The one star reviews of this book make me want to pray for them because I know many Christians who doubt daily communication with God and feel he only talks through Scripture. In my experience, everything Eldredge discusses here is accurate.He mentions trouble sleeping and only found relief from sleeplessness after a prayer binding the enemy and consecrating himself and home to God. I mention this because I have had the same problem since I started a closer walk with God. I used his suggested prayer. For the past two nights, I have been able to sleep without interruption. Coincidence? You can decide that for yourself.There are video segments that accompany the readings, but they usually don't say much more than the book does. I watched them because I enjoyed hearing John talk and discuss what he had written.A deeper walk with God is possible. Just when I feel I've read the best Eldredge has to offer, I find another of his books. Highly recommended. Someone recommended this book to me. After reading the description of it online, I was not too excited about it...but, ordered it anyway. I am so glad I did! I do not know how to put into words about how well written it is. I was apprehensive because I did not really want to read about someone's stories per se. But, the way the author shares....everything resonates. He also connects his sharing to scripture, which I did not expect but prefer and value. I actually like the structure of having no formal chapters, which I did not anticipate. The book is chunked into small sections, though. I only read a few pages (one or two little sections) per day because they are jam packed in my opinion. I want to soak it all in, reflect, and treasure the new perspectives I am receiving. I normally do not like to recommend books....I get bombarded all of the time by book recommendations by friends,etc...but, I have already bought a copy for a gift and recommended it those close to me. I have only read about 40 pages of it so far and felt compelled to share a review. I have highlighted a ton already and desire to re-read it so that I more deeply internalize aspects. I cannot wait to keep reading... I highly recommend.
